Things to Do
1. Sketch the latest iteration of your project.
- Rendering demonstration on 3ds Max – overview (camera-lights-maps-materials)
2. You will also be shown the materials editor and some useful info about how to use that.
3. Experiment with this during class.
- Experiment with UVW maps
- Help > user reference > index
- Diffuse > diffuse mapping
- Assign > material to selection
- Show > show map in viewport (take note of conditions that must be met for mapped materials to display in the viewport)
4. Apply a custom texture to one of your models. Then apply a second texture to a part of its geometry and apply UVW mapping so that the texture appears significantly different to that part of the object. Save images of this in your ORIGINALS folder.
- Modifier panel > Selection > Polygon (experiment with Ignore Backfacing and Ignore Visible edges)
